Website
There are currently four people with RosCMS write access (i.e. Translator myReactOS account). They are SirArthur, Leandroc, Juan Paul and me (Jeronimus Linuxius). I have the status of Language Maintainer, which means that I'm able to accept the translations for publish.
Sirarthur told me he is currently too busy to participate. Anyone who wants to help translating the Website (which comprises everything on reactos.org except this Wiki), please tell me, and I'll add you in the RosCMS interface.
About the status, there are about 25 translated pages on the Website. (It's pretty difficult to find some of them, so don't try to count them!) Some newsletters are translated (though only the most recent ones will be probably translated), the index page is translated too, the about page is, and the IRC info page is too. Help is needed.
Three of the recently translated pages were not updated online. I contacted Colin Fick and he differed the report to frik85. He also pointed me to a BugZilla entry by a user with the same problem. Bug 2831
ReactOS Itself
There are some resources already translated. Some of them are incredibly ugly. Others are not so bad. The final objective is having all the Portuguese ReactOS users (pt_PT, pt_BR, et-cetera) with the operating system completely localized with words that are suitable for their dialect. This will be achieved either by creating multiple translations of the same program or by using common resources (this strategies will, however, be chosen in an app-by-app fashion, not globally).
Other Stuff
- I don't take glances at the pt.Wikipedia ReactOS article for some time now. Of course it's also our role to make sure that it has a pretty face and explains things in easy terms.
- There is a Portuguese ROS related mailing-list here.
- We'll need too to create banks of difficult-to-translate terms for both pt_PT and pt_BR. (This is a project-wide policy, anyway)
Recent progresses
Keyboard Layout
The keyboard layout now works correctly, as far as I was able to test. There was a bug in the key translation table.
Recent discussion about RBuild has suggested that in the future we will switch to a language specialied on describing keyboard layouts, so we will need to rewrite the pt kbd layout somewhere in the future...
